SMART
World Class Quality
Ford designers and engineers have eagerly taken up the challenge to produce
vehicles with competitive world-class quality, from the tight sheet metal fit
tolerances and the smooth paint finish to the careful selection of materials and
the quietness of the interior. Want to know how well they've met the challenge
in the 2009 Focus Coupe? That's easy. Drive one.
Eco-Friendly Seating
Seat cushions in the 2009 Focus Coupe use a bio-based polyurethane foam derived
from the oils of various plant seeds. The color of the upholstery is either
Medium Stone or Charcoal Black, but the color of what lies beneath is
eco-friendly Green.
Rear Head Restraints
In addition to being equipped with head restraints, the versatile 60/40 folding
rear seat backs can also be lowered to create more cargo capacity.
Up to 35 MPG
Ford Focus is high on style. It's also high on gas mileage with its
EPA-estimated 35 Hwy mpg rating.* So you can spend more time enjoying your Focus
where it really matters - out on the open road. Remember, actual mileage may
vary, as it did when Edmunds.com got 37.5 highway mpg in an independent test.
*EPA estimated mpg with manual transmission. Actual mileage will vary.
Six Airbags
When it comes to passive safety protection, Focus has you well covered. In
addition to the dual-stage driver and front seat passenger airbags, every Focus
comes with standard front seat-mounted side airbags as well as front and rear
seat side curtain airbags. That's a total of six airbags to enhance protection
in certain front or side impacts. Always be sure to wear your safety belt and
secure children in the rear seat.
5-Star Safety
With its strong unitized body structure with crumple zones and advanced passive
safety features such as the Personal Safety SystemŽ, Focus has received the
government's highest 5-Star Frontal Crash Test Rating.*
*Star ratings are part of the U.S. Dept. of Transportation's Safercar.gov
Program (www.safercar.gov).
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
It's important to keep the air pressure in all four tires at the tire
manufacturer's recommended pounds-per-square-inch specification, because tire
pressure affects ride comfort, handling and fuel economy. That's why every Focus
comes equipped with a standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System, which alerts you
when a tire is low.
Safety
A reinforced steel safety cage helps manage impact energy in a collision. Six
airbags come standard: dual-stage driver and front seat passenger airbags, front
seat-mounted side airbags, plus 1st- and 2nd-row side curtain airbags.* Optional
anti-lock brakes with traction control deliver smooth, straight stops, while the
standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System helps maintain safe and efficient
pressure levels. It's pretty evident the 2009 Focus is one small car that's very
big on safety.
*Always wear your safety belt and secure children in the rear seat.
