DURABILITY
Longer Rear Leaf Springs
The rear suspension of the current-generation F-Series Super DutyŽ has 8-inch
longer rear leaf springs than the previous model. This increased length provides
more wind-up stiffness to manage the awesome torque of the 6.4L Power StrokeŽ V8
Turbo Diesel without compromising ride comfort.
Frame Strength
The Super DutyŽ frame is the foundation of its Built Ford Tough capability. For
strength and durability, crossmembers are riveted, welded or both. Another
strengthening measure, the hydroformed front end assembly is entirely spot
welded.
High Strength Front End Structure
Super DutyŽ uses all high-strength steel in its rugged hydroformed front end
structure. Lighter weight and greater strength mean greater vehicle integrity.
Real World Tested Tough
We approached twelve men and asked them to put the Super DutyŽ pickup to the
most punishing real-world testing they could administer over a full year. In the
end, the trucks proved they could handle any and all tough tasks they were
called up to tackle. How tough really is the F-Series Super DutyŽ? Just ask any
of the twelve who drove them.
Tough Bed Spray in Bed Liner
Built Ford Tough factory-applied spray-in bedliner is a new option on 2009
F-Series Super DutyŽ pickups. It delivers exceptional weather resistance and
protection against gouging, scratching, cracking and chipping.
